When I came home, Hubby stopped in his tracks and told me how "gorgeous" I look. He's such a liar!<br />
<div>

<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20150106_224114_zpseuzajmfa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20150106_224114_zpseuzajmfa.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20150106_224114_zpseuzajmfa.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided to run errands, including a quick run to Lane Bryant to use a $15 freebie coupon... so I raided the clearance jewelry rack. That statement is just to explain the presence of bras behind me, not that the accessories I wore that day were from LB.</div>

Just Netflixing, with occasional trips to the grocery store in sweats... so glamorous. But I did forget to post my outfit from my Junior League holiday party prior to my hermititude. So here we are:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141222_173442_zpsg0miajdn.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141222_173442_zpsg0miajdn.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141222_173442_zpsg0miajdn.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Looks like my trouser leg got caught on my thigh... guess I'm going to have to go back onto the low-carb wagon! But at least i got to wear this gorgeous top:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141222_173509_zps2l1hsjeu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141222_173509_zps2l1hsjeu.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141222_173509_zps2l1hsjeu.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Have I mentioned how much I like the texture of the trouser fabric?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I wish that the toes on the shoes were narrower, to elongate the leg line. But they are reasonably comfortable and the highest heels that I own... so they will have to do for the time being:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
These are a perfect tone match for the embellishment on the blouse:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20150106_223732_zpsk3lt1jsg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20150106_223732_zpsk3lt1jsg.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20150106_223732_zpsk3lt1jsg.jpg" /></a>
<br />
<br />
I imagine I will get busier soon, so see you later!<br />

<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_111052_zps18napkzk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_111052_zps18napkzk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_111052_zps18napkzk.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Would it be better to leave it untucked?<br />
<br />
OK, the photo was obviously not taken in a courtroom... no mirrors. I picked up some shells on sale, and I have since noticed similar ones on several attorneys lately. Of course, it's a bit chilly for just a shell and jacket, but I have solved that problem:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110849_zpsbcgvq2jl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_110849_zpsbcgvq2jl.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110849_zpsbcgvq2jl.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
The shirt under the shell is a bit too low to wear to work, so I'm glad to find an alternate use for it.<br />
<br />
closeup of shell<br />
<br />
I like this necklace, but I think I need an extender... it's just a smidge too snug:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110536_zpsbz8hybtj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_110536_zpsbz8hybtj.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110536_zpsbz8hybtj.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
At least these earrings are a good match for yet another item in my wardrobe... such a great find:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I didn't want to wear the heels from the previous evening, as my toes suffered a bit. So I broke out some flats:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141218_091339_zpsouhdg6og.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_091339_zpsouhdg6og.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141218_091339_zpsouhdg6og.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Funnily enough, one of the male attorneys was wearing something similar... brown wool-and-leather wingtips. I had to laugh!<br />

<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141224_190203_zps4qmcuq5n.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141224_190203_zps4qmcuq5n.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141224_190203_zps4qmcuq5n.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I also had to repair my broken "Hope"... a metaphor for my life lately:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_024336_zpsr98xpkm7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141225_024336_zpsr98xpkm7.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_024336_zpsr98xpkm7.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
The wreath has seen better days, but I made it for the first Christmas that Hubby and I were actually together. So I'm sentimentally attached. A boost to my "Hope" for the coming year is that a friend surprised us by bringing over a gorgeous Christmas dinner:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023125_zpsybusz05w.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141225_023125_zpsybusz05w.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023125_zpsybusz05w.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
And a few folks still sent out cards. We didn't send any this year, as the postage is a bit more than we can handle at the moment. And I'm think we aren't the only ones, as there are typically more cards. Again, here's hoping next year is better for everyone!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023503_zpsbhz5elrm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141225_023503_zpsbhz5elrm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023503_zpsbhz5elrm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
One of my favorite things is to mix the homemade and gifted ornaments with my fancy stuff... I adore the effect:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023215_zpszgk8dt2g.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141225_023215_zpszgk8dt2g.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023215_zpszgk8dt2g.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I do want to figure out a way to light up the star, though:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023806_zpskkfusxrv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141225_023806_zpskkfusxrv.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141225_023806_zpskkfusxrv.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Before he left, we hung Stinky's stocking by the Netflix version of the Yule Log. The Christmas music was lovely, not overbearing... just perfect!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/20141224_173249_zpsd9wi5sk2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 20141224_173249_zpsd9wi5sk2.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/20141224_173249_zpsd9wi5sk2.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and that you have a Happy Kwanzaa. If I missed your holiday, I apologize... and extend my best wishes!lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-79772045408552497242014-12-24T02:52:00.000-05:002014-12-30T00:45:48.491-05:00Should I keep this shirt?I've just been at home over Christmas, and the courts are closed the following week, so I'm just laying low a little. But I've been wondering whether this shirt suits me. Here's a shot with no makeup:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_002031_zps0ppwi4bg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_002031_zps0ppwi4bg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo PSX_20141215_002031_zps0ppwi4bg.jpg"></a><br>
<br>Love the"Crazy Eyes"!<div><br>I like the appliqué detail, but I'm uncertain about the color. Does a little makeup help? <br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_001922_zpsq2nefxu0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_001922_zpsq2nefxu0.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo PSX_20141215_001922_zpsq2nefxu0.jpg"></a><br>
<br>Your thoughts? </div>lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-33599970015463218132014-12-24T02:35:00.001-05:002014-12-24T02:35:52.278-05:00New Suit DebutLast Wednesday, I went to a holiday get-together for a local Toastmasters group. I'm not a member, but one of the local prosecutors keeps inviting me to join, and I'm hoping to make the time for it soon. So why not meet a few of the people ahead of time?<br />
<br />
Since I had just seen her in court the previous day, I didn't want to repeat my outfit. Fortunately, my jacket finally got back from the tailor:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034644_zpse2puvnmu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_034644_zpse2puvnmu.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034644_zpse2puvnmu.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I really should have steamed it... I'm hoping, since we were at a hibachi place, that nobody noticed.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034759_zps1keqroi7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_034759_zps1keqroi7.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034759_zps1keqroi7.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I also broke out my Lane Bryant "Perfect Shirt". I have to say... it's pretty great. Modest neckline but will still show a necklace well, and no need to safety-pin at my check to keep it from gaping. Apparently, the neckline was still low enough for a hot chunk of veggie to land in my cleavage when I failed to catch it with my mouth... youch!<br />
<br />
At least the gorgeous aubergine color was perfect for this delicate beauty...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
...which I think I've only worn with my "princess shirt". I'm so glad I finally get another use for it! The sleeves are a bit long, but they fold up so nicely:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034504_zpsdq3pvtji.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_034504_zpsdq3pvtji.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034504_zpsdq3pvtji.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
And a cheap pair of crystal studs to go with, but not overpower, my necklace:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141218_085703_zpspur5cazk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_085703_zpspur5cazk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141218_085703_zpspur5cazk.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I was feeling a bit festive, so I felt a bit more sparkle was needed:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110440_zpsgo2cmno7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_110440_zpsgo2cmno7.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_110440_zpsgo2cmno7.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm not accustomed to tucking shirts in, but I should get used to it... as part of my move to brush up my image:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034419_zps4tohoy3h.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141218_034419_zps4tohoy3h.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141218_034419_zps4tohoy3h.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
It's really best with the jacket on... and I did keep it on the whole evening. Another pleasant surprise was that the suit works with a pair of shoes that I haven't worn in years:<br />

<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_201755_zps5s1h274m.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141213_201755_zps5s1h274m.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_201755_zps5s1h274m.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Aren't they adorable? She is my karaoke buddy's (aka the Big Guy) daughter. Stinky met her over the summer at a birthday party, and they immediately got on like a house on fire! So the Big Guy and I make an effort to get them together once or twice a month... it would be more, but she lives with her mom a good distance from here.<br />
<br />
Since his thirteenth birthday was last week, we took the kids to one of those "bouncy" places. They also have arcade games, laser tag, a snack bar, and prizes for tickets. And funhouse mirrors on the way into the joint:<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Don't I feel attractive... ugh! Those photos look like I feel when I'm shopping for clothes. At least I looked more human, if a bit "understated", in the restroom mirror:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_224942_zpsetljviai.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141213_224942_zpsetljviai.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_224942_zpsetljviai.jpg" /></a></div>

I just adore my patterned Crocs. I know I used to saw that Crocs are a tool of the Devil... but then they came out with cuter designs:</div>

<br />
So why am I calling this twelve-year-old my FDIL? She asked her dad to hold onto her tickets from the arcade games. Because she wants to save them up to get a cool prize. For my Stinky!<br />
<br />
Yep, we'll keep her!<br />

But Hubby was in worse shape than I, so I was forced to leave my house to fill in for him in court. Brr...brr...brr! It was a double-sweater kind of day:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_085313_zpsqfdmassi.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141212_085313_zpsqfdmassi.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_085313_zpsqfdmassi.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Perhaps I should try to clean the mirror? Or is that just "crazy talk"? Of course, the restroom at the city hall had a perfect mirror for this... but I forgot my bloody phone!<br />
<br />
After court, I went home, took a quick blog pic, and went straight to bed. Ugh. At least I woke Friday feeling human, and with a relatively fresh outfit for the Women's Bar Christmas get-together. It was only a one-sweater day:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_173816_zpschjk78uq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141212_173816_zpschjk78uq.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_173816_zpschjk78uq.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I took Squeaky along, and we had a nice time. I saw people I haven't seen in over a year, and met some helpful new acquaintances. Killer earrings always are always a confidence-booster:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_112203_zpseh4afjoa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141212_112203_zpseh4afjoa.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141212_112203_zpseh4afjoa.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Several of the ladies commented that I've lost weight. I have... but I'm thinking that the extra height from my shoes helped with that image:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
The original plan for the evening was to go out with friends, likely hitting a karaoke night. But I fell asleep ridiculously early. I'm so disappointed, because I was really hoping that they would have the newer song I've been obsessing over for the last week or so:<br />
<br />

Guess I will try for this week....<br />

I'm such a child sometimes!<br />
<br />
I suppose it's natural, but I've been reading some posts on various blogs about "shopping your wardrobe". Since Hubby needed me to fill in for his night court appearance on Tuesday (he has a disgusting eye infection), I challenged myself to only wear items that I owned before my recent shopping glut:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_194021_zps39jganxk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141216_194021_zps39jganxk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_194021_zps39jganxk.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
And not a single item from Lane Bryant! Unusual for me, eh? I'm so happy that these pants and the jacket fit again... even though I've fallen off the diet wagon. I don't usually buy jackets that are meant to be fastened all the way up, because I like to show my shirts. But the few I do have, I bought because I was attracted to some element of color, design, or texture. I really love this:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141217_141318_zpsn1e0lvxv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141217_141318_zpsn1e0lvxv.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141217_141318_zpsn1e0lvxv.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Hmmm... what to go with this awkward round high neckline? After trying and rejecting a couple of necklaces, I opted for:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193553_zpsfhlxj5zu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141216_193553_zpsfhlxj5zu.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193553_zpsfhlxj5zu.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I don't seem to remember this top showing so much cleavage... must be the better bra. So I'm thinking that this top is going to be strictly a layering piece, at least for anything work-related.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193721_zpsyrfqwngv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141216_193721_zpsyrfqwngv.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193721_zpsyrfqwngv.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
These shoes are perfect for the Christmas season... they jingle when I walk:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193450_zpsmoti1ewd.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141216_193450_zpsmoti1ewd.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141216_193450_zpsmoti1ewd.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
It's really annoying, and I'm trying to figure out a way to stop this. Perhaps judicious use of the hot glue gun?<br />
<br />
At least my earrings had a "Silent Night":<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141217_012055_zpsoxsipyx1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141217_012055_zpsoxsipyx1.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141217_012055_zpsoxsipyx1.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I do get annoyed that the hinge is visible... it's very difficult to find hoops with a hidden hinge. I will be keeping my eye out, though!<br />

I went into some detail in earlier posts, but the Cliff's Notes version is that I was physically and emotionally fried... due to Hubby's severe <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2012/11/an-attitude-of-gratitude.html" target="_blank">injury</a> and <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/06/long-time-no-see.html" target="_blank">caring for him</a> both pre- and post- spinal fusion surgery, my mother's serious health problems, and some health issues of my own. In short: I had a year where I was pretty much a zombie.<br />
<br />
So I have spent the last year staying home, except filling in for court appearances a few times. That I can do (and probably have done) in my sleep! And I spent a solid two months of my summer <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/11/roller-coaster-summer.html" target="_blank">kayaking</a> almost every weather-friendly day. Really, I spent that year concentrating on feeling like a human being again.<br />
<br />
Then I spent all of September in Michigan dealing with my mother's illness, hospitalizations, and move into an apartment. It was stressful, but I could better handle it because I didn't have to worry about my job-- since I didn't have one! I was able to take all that time to rest and to help my family by using up our savings.... Now we are out of money.<br />
<br />
So I fired up the store charge cards, and<a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/11/major-image-overhaul.html" target="_blank"> kitted</a> myself out to look like a lawyer once more. Actually, I'm going for a more polished and cohesive image than previously seen on this blog. I'm still sorting and <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/12/trying-slimmer-pant-leg-meh.html" target="_blank">debating</a> and <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/11/bye-bye-bye.html" target="_blank">purging</a> and making my final purchases and returns... so there will be big changes from my previous look showing in future posts. I have posted a few of the <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/12/debuting-my-new-image.html" target="_blank">new</a> <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/12/back-into-fray.html" target="_blank">ones</a> <a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/12/court.html" target="_blank">recently</a>, but I'm just getting started. My bedroom still looks like the mall exploded in there!<br />
<br />
This afternoon, I dropped off my application for a part-time public defender position in an adjacent county. If I get the job, I would make less than I did in my last (full-time) position... <i><b>BUT</b></i> I could still accept outside cases, and the court appearances for the part-time position would mostly be in the evenings. It's a perfect base (steady income plus bennies) while I am building up my law practice.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_203241_zpswxpdlzkv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_203241_zpswxpdlzkv.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_203241_zpswxpdlzkv.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Pretty please... let it go to me!!!<br />
<br />
I didn't have an interview scheduled, but I still wanted to look good when taking the application in. You never know who you might see.... Normally, I would have just mailed it in. But since three reference letters had to be submitted with the application packet, I had to wait for those to arrive.<br />
<br />
The benefit of this requirement is that I actually got to see people (do two attorneys and a judge count as "people"?) saying <i>nice</i> things about me. The downside of having been a public defender for almost five years is that the clients are generally unhappy because we can't work miracles. They don't value our services because they're "free". *eyeroll*<br />
<br />
I suppose the fact that I'm female doesn't help... considering that I'm technically in "Appalachia". Which is where my wardrobe overhaul comes into play. I've been reading a great deal on projecting authority through my image, and I'm revamping my wardrobe with that goal in mind.<br />
<br />
My new necklace was a good choice for today, because it filled the neckline of my shirt without being distracting:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I wasn't thrilled with how these earrings went with this necklace, but it was the best I could do for this outfit today:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_224001_zpspoklkkik.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_224001_zpspoklkkik.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_224001_zpspoklkkik.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
After I delivered my application packet, I did a little shopping. I found the perfect black crystal studs to pair with this necklace, and a couple items of clothing that will make future appearances. At least I was still feeling pretty put together today:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_202946_zpszmflgqk0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_202946_zpszmflgqk0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_202946_zpszmflgqk0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Taking blog shots in store mirrors seems to work much better than taking them at home. Must be a lighting issue. I would have taken the time to get more focused shots... but my phone was almost dead.<br />
<br />
I really love the slight sheen on these pants, but it doesn't show up well in photos.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_223743_zpssnyi34kc.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I haven't worn these pants for years, as they were too tight. Not only am I thrilled that they fit again, I'm also amazed that they are so long that only my highest-heeled "witchy" shoes could work with them:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_203039_zpsqv6liukh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141215_203039_zpsqv6liukh.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141215_203039_zpsqv6liukh.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
They just make me feel so tall! I do wish they had a more pointed toe box to lengthen my short, blocky feet, but they will do well enough for the time being:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm going to be on pins and needles until I find out whether I get the job. Eek!<br />

<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203117_zpsp0pluatl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_203117_zpsp0pluatl.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203117_zpsp0pluatl.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
My suit jackets aren't back from the tailor yet, so I went with my colored tweed jacket and the same ponte knit pants I wore the day before:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141210_202938_zpsx2dlhp01.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202938_zpsx2dlhp01.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141210_202938_zpsx2dlhp01.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I don't know why it looks like these pants "grab" my knees in photos, they don't look that way in real life. Irritating. I really need to find a spot to put my good mirror, so I can bring it up from the basement! Perhaps that would help. Our place is small and weird, so it's going to take some doing....<br />
<br />
It does crack me up that, as many accessories as I already own, I did not have the willpower to resist this beauty:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202738_zpswj34y6af.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I've actually seen real lace necklaces at the farmer's market, but I didn't like that they were so lightweight. This one is metal, so it stays in place nicely.<br />
<br />
Of course, I don't really like any of the earrings I already own with it. *sigh* I tried these hematite ones with it, but I was disappointed with the combination:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_224636_zps4oesnoas.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141213_224636_zps4oesnoas.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141213_224636_zps4oesnoas.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
So I will have to keep my eyes peeled of something I like for the necklace. But at least I'm loving that I can finally wear these high heels... but they only seem to work with the new ponte knit pants, so I'm breaking them out as often as possible:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I wonder how some of my other shoes would look with those pants... hmmm....<br />

The nice part about doing this is that I don't have office hours. Because I can't afford office space! So I was up at odd hours again Monday night, researching some issues for a case I was appearing on first thing in Tuesday morning:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203302_zpsnzyixu9t.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_203302_zpsnzyixu9t.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203302_zpsnzyixu9t.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Bad hair day! I dozed on wet hair following a 4 a.m. shower, then did the best I could before I had to leave for the 9:15 docket. It seemed to get even worse as the day went on:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203204_zpsuokdtpz0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_203204_zpsuokdtpz0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203204_zpsuokdtpz0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Perhaps I need comfort food... to overcome the humiliation of appearing<i> anywhere</i> with that hair? I stopped into the drugstore after court to pick up a couple of things for Hubby... and was confronted with something I just <i>had</i> to try. Almost a dare, really:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203346_zpsvqoqex5u.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_203346_zpsvqoqex5u.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203346_zpsvqoqex5u.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
The idea sounded weird... but... Yum!<br />
<br />
I'm so thoroughly tired of these earrings... they look "amateur". Without the sentimental attachment of someone close to me having made them. Perhaps I should remake them into studs? Or just get rid of them?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203422_zpsrksvshj2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_203422_zpsrksvshj2.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_203422_zpsrksvshj2.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I saw a nice pair of black studs at Lane Bryant... maybe I will see if I can catch them on a good sale.<br />
<br />
I'm so glad I finally have pants long enough to wear these shoes! They have been wardrobe lurkers for ages... and are the highest heels I am keeping. I thought they might have to go as well, but my new ponte knit pants are apparently even longer than my other new ones. I'm thrilled!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141210_202823_zps05oemhjm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm calling them my "witchy" shoes... *cackles*.<br />

MehLast Tuesday was errand day. I had to get some recall work done on my car, then stop into the Bon Ton to re-buy a top I just bought the day before... using a coupon given to me that would make it half off! Yep, I do stuff like that... I can make Abe Lincoln's face scream, I pinch so hard!<br>
<br>
And least the pillars have mirrors for blog shots. Clever idea!<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141205_001219_zpstmgnzmwy.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141205_001219_zpstmgnzmwy.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141205_001219_zpstmgnzmwy.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
Does the elastic on the waist emphasize my pooch? I'm still playing around with styling this one... any ideas? I just felt dowdy, which is tragic given the pretty blue of the top.<br>
<br>
And that bra is pretty shot... I guess I can only wear it with certain tops. Not including this one!<br>
<br>
I'm trying out this pair of pull-on pants that have been sitting in the back of my closet for ages. They are a more tapered leg style than I normally wear, but I thought I would try to treat them like leggings. Since I would not wear actual leggings given my legs' odd shape.<br>
<br>
I was in a rush, so I grabbed some inoffensive earrings:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
And comfy shoes for walking around:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
I tried the pants out again on Friday, when visiting a friend in the hospital. She had her thyroid, nodules, and goiter removed... we are all just hoping that the biopsy gives her the all-clear! I stopped off at Wally World to get flowers and a card, as the gift shop was closed. But the flowers were all ugly, and the card I bought disappeared before I got to the hospital. Weird!<br>
<br>
I was dolled up because I expected to go to karaoke with friends afterward... but I was too exhausted, so I went straight home and to bed once I left the hospital.<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024411_zpsmbbcf7ku.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_024411_zpsmbbcf7ku.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024411_zpsmbbcf7ku.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
I call this my "princess top", probably because I feel a little like I'm at a Renaissance Faire while wearing it. It's not "polished" or "professional", though. I'm torn whether it should still have a place in my closet... I love it, but I'm not sure where it's really appropriate for me to wear... or what I should pair it with.<br>
<br>
Any ideas?<br>
<br>
And I'm really not liking the tapered leg look on me. It's been so long since I'd worn it... I think I forgot that it makes me look like an ice cream cone!<br>
<br>
I still need to figure out how to wear this with something I could wear to court:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024526_zpshcm0as7w.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
The earrings are nothing special... but the shape echoes the pendant, and the color is a dead-on match:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024558_zpsietxxw1t.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_024558_zpsietxxw1t.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_024558_zpsietxxw1t.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
Have I mentioned how much I love my purple flats? Ally from <a href="http://shybiker.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Shybiker</a> actually met up with me in Queens when I happened to be in the City... and we had a nice chat while getting in a shopping-and-lunch girly day.<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_231732_zpsgzfmzrjg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_231732_zpsgzfmzrjg.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_231732_zpsgzfmzrjg.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
Note to self: stop buying cheap black knee-highs. They are just ugly!<br>
<br>
Sunday, I took Bugalug for a playdate with Peanut... they had a ball!<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_033011_zpsbuyt6vya.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_033011_zpsbuyt6vya.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_033011_zpsbuyt6vya.jpg"></a><br>
<br>
I, of course, wore the finest in "playdate chauffeur" fashion:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_032859_zpsoodsb9vw.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_032859_zpsoodsb9vw.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141208_032859_zpsoodsb9vw.jpg"></a><br>

I got all "Mom version" of dolled-up... then my hair got rained on:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_231557_zpsyvroxpy3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_231557_zpsyvroxpy3.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_231557_zpsyvroxpy3.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Ah well... it dried out of the "Conehead" look eventually. I was particularly looking excited to wear these shoes:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141207_215636_zpskbowojam.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141207_215636_zpskbowojam.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141207_215636_zpskbowojam.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I bought them to go with a suit with a slight sheen about ten years ago... then got too fat for the suit! They then served as my "something old" at my wedding. I just adore the pearly sheen. Of course, I chose (artificial) pearl accessories. I could not get a decent pic of the plain stud earrings, but the bracelet is fabulous:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_170132_zpss9ha5kxa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_170132_zpss9ha5kxa.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_170132_zpss9ha5kxa.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I didn't notice until later how the metal part echoes the lace on my sweater, making it an even better match:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141208_005054_zpshcjckmky.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141208_005054_zpshcjckmky.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141208_005054_zpshcjckmky.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Somehow, I actually feel better if I feel "pulled together". Obviously, I chose the pants and sweater combination because the purple works with the stripes... but not the pink in the<a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/12/debuting-my-new-image.html" target="_blank"> jacket</a> that works with the exact same stripes. Weird... but, whatever.<br />
<br />
Obviously, the production Squeaky and I attended with two <b><i>very</i></b> excited little girls was not the Baryshnikov one... but you all get a little treat:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/G1b2VRQ93Mc" width="420"></iframe><br />
<br />
Bugalug was just as excited as I, and when I got to her mother's house to pick her up... she was wearing a velveteen dress a darker shade of the exact purple I wore. Fun coincidence! She was also properly accessorized for the occasion:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141207_011127_zps5fkzv4fo.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141207_011127_zps5fkzv4fo.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141207_011127_zps5fkzv4fo.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Including a bracelet her Grandma made for her... very fancy!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_170236_zpsqivi4vzr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_170236_zpsqivi4vzr.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_170236_zpsqivi4vzr.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Once the performance started, we had two <b><i>entranced</i></b> little girls:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_231237_zpsjsmvq6n6.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_231237_zpsjsmvq6n6.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_231237_zpsjsmvq6n6.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Peanut was so adorable during the show... she kept saying "wow", and would wave at the dancers. She was pretty well-behaved for her age (unusually), and Bugalug is typically a very good girl... at least with me:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_234648_zpsojubk6a2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_234648_zpsojubk6a2.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_234648_zpsojubk6a2.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Apparently, my feet got fatter when I did, because these shoes turned into toe-cruchers. Before starting the second part of my evening, I broke down and changed them:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141207_003036_zpsvmc63uqk.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Will it pass?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141207_012219_zps76sv6roz.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141207_012219_zps76sv6roz.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141207_012219_zps76sv6roz.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
At least it was just to hang out with some friends, and go out for karaoke night. This one had a very good DJ... he even switched the lighting to blue when I sang my favorite space song:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/N1Hs2AQwDgA" width="420"></iframe><br />
<br />
I heard this song on the radio a few times when I was a kid... and was absolutely entranced. And every time I sing it... someone always asks me what it is!<br />
<br />
The DJ had the lighting on red when my Bestie rocked "Heartbreaker". I loved playing with lighting when I was a club DJ... but most karaoke hosts either don't have the equipment, or don't bother. I was impressed. Just as the blue added to the mood of "Major Tom"... red was perfect for this:<br />

Almost as soon as I hit the door, I received several compliments on my hair, my outfit, and generally looking good... it's so nice to see positive initial results on my image overhaul!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141204_233246_zpslx9gtoni.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141204_233246_zpslx9gtoni.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141204_233246_zpslx9gtoni.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Notice how nicely this jacket hangs... there is a hidden hook so I can close it. And it hangs nicely closed as well, although occasionally the hook undoes itself. No biggie.<br />
<br />
While the restroom in the restaurant we met in was lovely (how cool is the wallpaper!), it did not have a full-length mirror to capture the entire outfit. Fortunately, the truck stop on the way home does:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141204_232309_zps7vltour3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141204_232309_zps7vltour3.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141204_232309_zps7vltour3.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I call this jacket and trousers a "suit substitute" (where did I pick up that term... perhaps "What Not to Wear"?), and it's actually the first set I bought this year as an "interview suit". When I was in the Mitten caring for Mom, setting up my parents' new apartment, and rapidly gaining weight on a near-daily diet of gluten-free pizza and pint(s) of ice cream... the jeans and pants I packed for the trip were getting uncomfortably reminiscent of sausage-casing.<br />
<br />
So a trip to the local Lane Bryant for some jeans was called for... I didn't have time to mess around with a big search, and LB is my go-to store for jeans and pants. When I walked in the door, a saleslady handed me a coupon: $10 off my purchase just to try on "career wear" pants... and $20 off my purchase if I actually bought a pair of them. Worked on me!<br />
<br />
I would have just tried on the trousers for the $10 off my jeans... but when I saw this jacket in the clearance racks I was sold! The colors are gorgeous and work with the pinstripes. And it fit like a dream!<br />
<br />
OK, the shot is blurry, but it's the best one of the colors I have been able to get:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141204_232541_zpseq6vgtma.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141204_232541_zpseq6vgtma.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141204_232541_zpseq6vgtma.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Little-known fact: if the Lane Bryant online price or sale is better than the one in the store, the store will match it. This came in incredibly handy on Cyber Monday, when I was able to score the one-day half-off-everything on the site. While the store still had to order some items for me, I got to take some of my purchases home that day. Including this trinket I picked up specifically to match this jacket:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141205_000619_zpsyhhibdrg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141205_000619_zpsyhhibdrg.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141205_000619_zpsyhhibdrg.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I didn't like the earring that were intended for it, but I have something suitable at home:<br />
<br />
<a a="" href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_205737_zpswmkul6n6.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_205737_zpswmkul6n6.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_205737_zpswmkul6n6.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I have some new pointy-ties patent croc shoes I wanted to try... but they didn't look good with the outfit. Too shiny. I think they would be better for my black suit. So I pulled these out instead:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141206_205525_zpsdwfsk8as.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141206_205525_zpsdwfsk8as.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141206_205525_zpsdwfsk8as.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Even though they are heels, they aren't toe-crunchers at all... love them!<br />

<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141201_004708_zpskbperaim.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141201_004708_zpskbperaim.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141201_004708_zpskbperaim.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
OK, the Oompa-Loompa look is courtesy of Hubby's crappy photography skills. It's hard to get a shot from him that isn't completely blurred, let alone a decent angle! I have yet to get a decent photo of the earrings, so that will have to wait for another day. But here's the buckle, which I adore:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Anyhoo-- I wore the same jeans the next day to do some shopping for my largely house-bound M-I-L, then got a look at my outfit in a full-sized mirror in the Wal-Mart ladies' room:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_004511_zpsibtr75yl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141201_004511_zpsibtr75yl.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_004511_zpsibtr75yl.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
And I'm not liking what I'm seeing... blurriness and grubby mirror aside. What's really bothering me, like the last pair of jeans I wore (and<a href="http://lawyerdoll.blogspot.com/2014/11/can-i-wear-these-yet.html" target="_blank"> posted</a>) recently, is the knees:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141125_230112_zps9xe5qt8v.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141125_230112_zps9xe5qt8v.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141125_230112_zps9xe5qt8v.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Boot-cut jeans, unless they are pretty loose, tend to "grab" my knees at the worst spot! Since I've been "big", I've been very self-conscious about my tiny kneecaps "lost in a sea of fat". There is a lot of extra inner knee chub... and I despair. I wear my (very, very few) skirts and dresses just below the knee for that very reason.<br />
<br />
Even when I'm slim, I have disproportionately large thighs, including inner knee "chub"... and I've always had the "lap spread" when I sit-- even when my size eight jeans were hanging off me as I was a stressball while finishing law school. A couple of boyfriends, over the years, remarked that they hadn't seen that on other girls... and yet those guys still walk this Earth. As far as I know, anyway. I am a merciful soul.<br />
<br />
And now I need to remember to NEVER buy boot-cut pants or jeans again. In life. EVER!!! At least I should be able to avoid buying any more *crossing fingers* or the foreseeable future, as I will have these beauties:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141205_014925_zps6xsuwh4i.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141205_014925_zps6xsuwh4i.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141205_014925_zps6xsuwh4i.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Recently, Lane Bryant came out with the best trouser-cut jeans I've had the pleasure of wearing. Indeed, I also ordered extras in every size (that LB carries) smaller than I'm wearing now once they went on sale for 1/2 off! I know it sounds weird, but I have to snag them while I can... because decent pants-- especially jeans-- are almost as difficult for me to find as a unicorn!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141202_073643_zpsswokr2ld.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141202_073643_zpsswokr2ld.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141202_073643_zpsswokr2ld.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
They are actually a bit long, even when I'm wearing high-ish shoes (how weird!) I'm still debating whether I want to have them taken up a little, but I'm trying to avoid all but absolutely necessary tailoring expenses. The waist is a wee bit big on me, but not quite enough to be worth tailoring. The solution: a belt. But regular belts just won't do because, due to my Super-Curves, they stick out oddly in the back:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141202_074240_zpstuobyuey.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141202_074240_zpstuobyuey.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141202_074240_zpstuobyuey.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Regular belt vs. elastic belt... weird, eh? For some pants, a curved belt works nicely. But elastic belts are my "Boo", as my sister says.<br />
<br />
Not that I'm going to toss my boot-cut jeans, once they are looser... they will look a bit better. So you may see them again in a few pounds... well, a few more pounds than initially anticipated. What was supposed to be a few days at M-I-L's turned into a week. A week of carbs and gluttony....<br />
<br />
So I've set myself back in the weight-loss department. Damage total: +5 lbs. since I left for M-I-L's until December 2nd. Net gain for November: +2 lbs. Not thrilled, but it could be worse... I cheated a good bit even before Carb Fest 2014!<br />
<br />
I chose very simple earrings for this pretty basic outfit:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_002940_zpsybnfnopq.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
And I'm throwing up this shot, taken on my way home, because I thought it turned out kind of neat. And I love the embroidery on this thermal top:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_004445_zpsfhxsgukm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141201_004445_zpsfhxsgukm.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141201_004445_zpsfhxsgukm.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
It cracks me up that the spots on this rest stop mirror look like snow!<br />
<br />
Bootcut jeans: Jacklyn Smith "Angel Cut" from Kmart<br />

You can't really see the blue top and accessories through the blurriness, so I will save that for another day.lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-4230623114568329752014-12-03T02:01:00.001-05:002014-12-03T02:01:23.303-05:00Teasing... Not PleasingWhy does Lane Bryant do this to me? I've been spending my money there for ages... and they finally come up with the best suit separates I've seen from them in possibly forever. I'm particularly upset about this set:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_100819_zpsxnpfvqkq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_100819_zpsxnpfvqkq.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_100819_zpsxnpfvqkq.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Why? Because I bought the same jacket, with matching trousers in black and gray. And they look <i><b>wonderful</b></i> on me, as would this "Dark Sangria" pantsuit. I ordered a matching skirt in black as well, but the jury is still out on it (length may be an issue). The jacket looks fantastic on my frame, and I am of the "buy one in every color (that you like)" school.<br />
<br />
But this lovely burgundy suit is off-limits... I'm crushed!<br />
<br />
Somewhere in my basement, there is a pair of red pinstriped black trousers. I think they are a size ten... a place I haven't been quite some time. I have serious questions about whether it is reasonably possible, or even wise, to attempt a journey back there.<br />
<br />
In a recent "check-in" chat with Mom, she pointed out that (following massive weight loss after decades of obesity) if she could have her excess skin removed... she would be at her goal weight. I have seen so many people, and photos of people, after extreme weight loss. Some just look older than they should. Others look like a melted candle. Not good.<br />
<br />
So I would welcome a pair of red pinstriped trousers in my current size. And the coordinating jacket (perhaps better to use a black one?) would be a real bonus. Too bad they won't fit:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_100716_zpssakrrzwh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_100716_zpssakrrzwh.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_100716_zpssakrrzwh.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Lane Bryant has two basic "cuts" of pants. The pants from the above photos only come in this one:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2014-11-21%2023.49.39_zpsxox9x8en.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2014-11-21 23.49.39_zpsxox9x8en.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2014-11-21%2023.49.39_zpsxox9x8en.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Did that woman's body look anything like mine? Nope! Their "Lena" cut is closer to what I need, but I still need to have the tailor take the waist in a bit:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2014-11-21%2023.46.50_zpstfdqmytk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2014-11-21 23.46.50_zpstfdqmytk.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2014-11-21%2023.46.50_zpstfdqmytk.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I can't just buy the "Sophie" pants and have the waist taken in. The result would be a mangled mess! The waist is waaaay too big, and the legs and hips/backside far too small. The thighs and knees are usually cut too slim as well. Women generally carry weight mostly in the abdomen or mostly in the hips and bottom. The difference is much more pronounced with us plus-sized customers.<br />
<br />
My additional challenge is that my legs are proportionally thicker than most women's... even other "big" women. Which is why boot-cut pants often aren't great on me, and slim or skinny cuts are atrocious!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
I just don't understand why they would make certain pants in only one of their two cuts. This is just cruel!lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-45860533053405799852014-12-01T02:24:00.001-05:002014-12-01T02:24:30.298-05:00Up for DebateDuring "The Purge of November 2014", I encountered a few items that made my cheap hoarder instincts a bit twitchy. Sometimes, a girl just needs to know when to ask for help. So tell me what you think I should do with the following items:<br />
<br />
These are decent Bass shoes, but very plain. Boring. Perhaps even masculine? Why is it so difficult for me to cull these out?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20110914_130318_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20110914_130318_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20110914_130318_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I have other shoes that fill that "spot" in a wardrobe, are much more stylish, and more comfortable.... OK, OK... into the donation pile they go!<br />
<br />
This jacket had to be altered in an unusual way by my tailor... she actually had to research my issue! I've gotten a lot of good use out of it, but it is still in near-perfect condition. Except now it has a few brown spots right in front, on the cream-colored bits, of course. I'm so aggravated!<br />
<br />
My question is whether I let it go... or try out some Rit dye? And if I do dye it, should the dye be the same color as the stains, or darker? Or a different color altogether... and which one? I've never dyed clothing before... but I can't go around with brown spots on my boobs!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101123_123210_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101123_123210_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101123_123210_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I chatted with my mom about the issue when I made my "checking-in" phone call. Freeda had to remind me to call, as I not a "phone person". Anyway... Mom thinks I should give it a try. So I really need advice on dyeing.<br />
<br />
Why am I having a difficult time getting rid of my Bass fuglys? Yes, my podiatrist padded these to relieve some of the pressure on my heel spurs. But I've had surgery to remove those. And these shoes are just homely. But very practical.<br />
<br />
Somebody help me!!!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/281d1c75.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 281d1c75.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/281d1c75.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
My biggest question of all:<br />
<br />
For pointy-toed flats, these American Eagle shoes are actually <i>not</i> toe-crunchers. And I like the pretty varied pink color and the kitten heels. The ends of the toes and around the heel are looking a bit worn, but I could just touch that up with nail polish and marker.<br />
<br />
But they are synthetic, and I usually prefer (with exceptions, of course) leather. And should I really bother with all these "repairs" for shoes that aren't even leather?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101001_105954_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101001_105954_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101001_105954_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm really torn here... I need input!lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-50288617470633675092014-11-30T01:27:00.001-05:002014-11-30T01:27:47.313-05:00"Fat Clothes"Since I've been home from dealing with my mother's illness and hospitalizations, I've gotten very serious about shedding some of these extra pounds. I actually gained a bunch of weight while I was in the Mitten for a month-- I guess thirty days of daily gluten-free pizza, accompanied by daily pint(s) of ice cream will do that to a girl!<br />
<br />
But Mom's health problems, along with my Mother-in-Law's, are (at a minimum) exacerbated by their obesity. My Mom has lost a lot of weight, but the damage is done. Hubby has been very concerned about my future health, and has been urging me to get serious about weight loss. And unlike *some* (ex-) boyfriends, I am absolutely certain that Hubby truly means that his concern is about my health-- and it's not about appearance. He's just that kind of guy, which is part of why I married him and not one of those other guys!<br />
<br />
So far, so good! I got home late on Sept 30., and on November 1 calculated that I lost just over twelve pounds. Yay me! Although I suspect that my weight loss for November isn't so impressive, particularly as I've gone off the low-carb wagon for the last week while at my M-I-L's....<br />
<br />
So I edited out my "too big" clothes... which always feels better than editing out my "too small" ones. And I thought it would be fun to post my old blog photos of clothes that *hopefully* won't see the light of day again!<br />
<br />
STORED AWAY:<br />
<br />
My brown nubby pants are finally too big! <br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20100921_135001_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20100921_135001_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20100921_135001_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Hubby thinks this jacket still fits, but it just seems a bit big now to me. Plus, it's really not in season:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2012-11-29_22-00-48_536_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2012-11-29_22-00-48_536_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2012-11-29_22-00-48_536_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
It's funny, I bought three of these shirts--same size-- at the same time. But this one had to be tailored differently than the other two. And it's too big while the other two will still work for the time being:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101005_095931_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101005_095931_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101005_095931_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Sending my "Mom Jeans" to the storage box-- they are way too big now:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/4c2c0f24.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 4c2c0f24.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/4c2c0f24.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm being very strict about what I will keep in the "too big" bin. Only garments that are still in decent condition, fit well when I am that size (I'm getting rid of my "too short" pants), nothing likely to be quickly outdated (not much of a problem for me, I tend to go pretty "classic"), will make it into this box. Things that if, Heaven forbid, I regain weight... I will not be embarrassed to wear.<br />
<br />
Because even if I'm fat-- and it's OK to use the word "fat" when it's true-- it's no excuse for dressing in ill-fitting or shabby garments like I have been for the last couple of years... coinciding with onslaught of Hubby's and Mom's medical problems.lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-52902265143803635822014-11-28T21:26:00.000-05:002014-11-28T21:30:11.804-05:00Shopping JediNOTE: I made a couple of edits, for typos. Then Blogger changed the date of this post, just to confuse everyone. This is actually from last week. Argh!<br />
<br />
I got another morning call from Squeaky the next day, for more shopping. She's redecorating, and I'm having fun spending HER husband's money!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I grabbed the tight jeans because I could find them, took a quickie shower, and combed my hair straight with cheap mousse this time:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141122_220507_zpsgyotyvov.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141122_220507_zpsgyotyvov.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141122_220507_zpsgyotyvov.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Yep... wore my "shopping marathon shoes" again. But I did jazz up the ensemble with this treasure:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221530_zpsydwauwkl.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I just adore these earrings... but the matching necklace would have been a bit "too much":<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221510_zpswywtszda.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141122_221510_zpswywtszda.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221510_zpswywtszda.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I tried out my idea of wearing forties under my compression socks... love it! I get the softer material touching my toes, and a bit of warmth as well. Except there is a bit of cutting in around the ankle.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221421_zpsrx2mokl9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141122_221421_zpsrx2mokl9.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141122_221421_zpsrx2mokl9.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Perhaps I will try the socks that come up a little more next time.<br />
<br />
Saturday:<br />
Turtleneck: Van Heusen<br />
Long Sweater: Just My Size via Baby Sis' friend's purge pile<br />
Belt: I forgot. Bought it in Queens... oh yeah! Boscov's<br />

lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-67540531801302091992014-11-23T01:04:00.002-05:002014-11-28T15:07:49.483-05:00Bye, Bye, Bye!I thought it would be fun to review some of the items that didn't survive "The Purge of November 2014":<br />
<br />
DONATED/GIVEN AWAY:<br />
<br />
Bye-bye, buttflaps! I hate the way they stick out on my already ginormous bottom, and these pants are just are too short-- even in flats. I actually wore them to court recently, then started kicking myself when I got home. But I hadn't had my new court clothes tailored yet. No excuse- I had other things I could have worn!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20100910_134330_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20100910_134330_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20100910_134330_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I've never been crazy about brown, though as much as I've worn it-- one could reasonably infer otherwise. I have a ton of brown shoes purchased for brown pants over the years... I wonder how long I can avoid brown pants? As of this purge, I have no brown or mostly-brown pants or jackets in my closet. But there might be some in the storage bins. Time (and weight loss) will tell.<br />
<br />
While I won't miss the brown butt-flap pants, I'm going to miss my wardrobe staple-- it was just too shabby to keep around any more. Although it was tough to part with. At least my red version of this is still OK.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20100922_153115_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20100922_153115_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20100922_153115_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
While I love the concept of a big, cozy sweater... the execution leaves much to be desired. At least on me, because I need more bulk added to my cartoonishly round hips! Given to my Bestie:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2011-11-18_12-57-15_507-1_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2011-11-18_12-57-15_507-1_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2011-11-18_12-57-15_507-1_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I liked this sweater, and it was a freebie hand-me-down from Freeda. But it was just getting too faded to deal with... it's Old Navy, so not a top-quality fabric. Although I was impressed that the design actually matched up at the button placket:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2012-01-09_21-01-45_166-1_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2012-01-09_21-01-45_166-1_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2012-01-09_21-01-45_166-1_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
This tank was always a bit too sheer for my comfort:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20110729_181304_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20110729_181304_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20110729_181304_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm keeping the button-down, just got rid of the top underneath. The boat neck never lies flat, and it's just annoying:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101220_211353_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101220_211353_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101220_211353_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I really loved this combination, but the sweater just kept coming up short. Short-waisted and short-sleeved. But it is such a great color/accessory combination! I will be merciless in this purge, and keep an eye out for a better-fitting hot pink sweater to try the idea in the future:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2011-12-01_16-10-03_129-1_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2011-12-01_16-10-03_129-1_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2011-12-01_16-10-03_129-1_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Delightfully warm, but just too big and not worth altering:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101228_100820_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101228_100820_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101228_100820_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I tried having this altered, but it was still a hot mess:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101117_090628_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101117_090628_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101117_090628_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
THIS HOARDER ACTUALLY THREW SOMETHING OUT:<br />
<br />
This Chico's sweater, along with it's black counterpart, started to unravel around the neck. They weren't special enough to try to mend, and the sleeves were a touch too short anyway:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20110125_153054_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20110125_153054_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20110125_153054_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
See how I'm trying to hide that the waist was too short as well? It would be hilarious, if I hadn't worn that to work!<br />
<br />
I know I should go through another round of purges at some point... although I'm hoping I was thorough this time. Oh well... I will probably have to do it when I go down a size or two.<br />
<br />
I will have to post about the things I'm having a hard time purging. I could use your input!<br />
<br />lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-60128427500737889582014-11-22T23:52:00.001-05:002014-11-23T00:51:26.647-05:00Is "The Force" With Me?Yesterday, I had to drive Hubby for some court appearances. I wanted to look good, since people I know from my old job would likely see me. I did take the time to blow-dry my hair... but I was too lazy to dig my trouser jeans out of the clean laundry basket and iron them. So I went for a butt-covering sweater and wore my jeans from Thursday instead:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231001_zpsnbunwhki.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_231001_zpsnbunwhki.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231001_zpsnbunwhki.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I adore this belt, and was glad for the chance to wear it:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231132_zpsq6mm6fjb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_231132_zpsq6mm6fjb.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231132_zpsq6mm6fjb.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
My outfit today is reminding me of something... giving me a fun feeling... what could it be?<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Screenshot_2014-11-22-00-16-11_zpsvdnxqhop.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Screenshot_2014-11-22-00-16-11_zpsvdnxqhop.png" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Screenshot_2014-11-22-00-16-11_zpsvdnxqhop.png" /></a><br />
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTAwP2HefN7pPG-WG2WhZOrnAwejEalKPS6IrwjtnkVfxj4LWw_7w" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;">credit</span></a><br />
<br />
Thats it... My outfit is reminding me slightly of a Jedi costume. Cool! Speaking of Jedi-- check this great parody video:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/qJlbPXZEpRE" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
I'm such a fangirl... the lyrics are from my mind to this guy's lips!<br />
<br />
I wanted to wear coordinating jewelry with my Jedi-esqe outfit, but nothing that would overshadow my "lovebirds". So I picked some subtle studs:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232421_zpsh4bzze2u.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_232421_zpsh4bzze2u.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232421_zpsh4bzze2u.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Because they work well with this necklace:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231223_zpsnuuvbu8n.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_231223_zpsnuuvbu8n.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231223_zpsnuuvbu8n.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
However, there were still a few issues with the outfit. Mostly because I wore the jeans that I determined were too tight as I wrote the last post. And because the sweater would ride up if I forgot to tug it down after sitting:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231044_zpshteijldt.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_231044_zpshteijldt.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231044_zpshteijldt.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
The sweater covers the worst of the back of these jeans, but not quite enough to save them from the "too small" bag:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231102_zpskuhoktsd.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_231102_zpskuhoktsd.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_231102_zpskuhoktsd.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I decided to wear a pair of my winter boots, rather than shoes. Mostly because I wasn't sure what to expect from the weather. It turns out that they weren't necessary, and my feet were sweating like crazy while I was waiting for Hubby's court appearance to be over:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141121_101820_zps9vbdo2ry.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_101820_zps9vbdo2ry.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141121_101820_zps9vbdo2ry.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
This is with trouser socks over the compression socks... my feet were boiling, perhaps I should have left the trouser socks off.<br />
<br />
It is a little amusing that I can't seem to find any boots that will lace up without weird gaps around the tongue. Life without ankles... *sigh* On the plus side, I was asked if I lost weight!<br />
<br />
Top: VanHeusen turtleneck "altered" by me.<br />
Sweater: Croft & Barrow via Baby's Sis' friend's purge pile. Yep, I'm getting hand-me-downs from perfect strangers... sweet!<br />
Jeans: Lane Bryant<br />
Boots: Bass<br />
Earrings: Cost Plus World Market<br />
Necklace: Wal-Mart<br />
Belt: via Freeda's purge pile<br />

But It's Better Than the Alternative!Yesterday was a pretty busy Thursday for me-- I didn't even have time to dig up an old photo for "Throwback Thursday" on Facebook! Squeaky woke me up with a phone call... we had planned to go to a town about an hour away from me to help her shop at this fantastic dent/scratch/discontinued furniture store. We planned it for Monday, but I woke up with a hideous cold then cancelled. By Thursday, I felt human again. Let's go!<br />
<br />
I just had a haircut the day before, so I thought it was a good time to test out "scrunched with mousse and wax, air dry". I was feeling pretty good in the store:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141120_230827_zpsrog0vhr9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141120_230827_zpsrog0vhr9.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141120_230827_zpsrog0vhr9.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Well, I'm still showing a few unflattering lumps and bumps, but I'm making progress... right?<br />
<br />
At least Squeaky made out like a bandit... she bought a sofa, loveseat, and chaise. And a bunch of throw cushions were tossed (Dad pun alert!!!) into the deal. I believe the grand total was less than a thousand bucks!<br />
<br />
Lately I'd been... I almost want to use the word <i>craving</i>... teal clothing. I have always loved the color, and it seems to be big this season. The sweater wasn't the best "teal"of the ones I tried on, but it was the best-fitting.<br />
<br />
These earrings set it off beautifully:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo PSX_20141121_232357_zpswrkwq0u0.jpg"/></a><br />
<br />
I felt like I really wanted a little interest at the neckline, but most of my "gold" necklaces would not suit one way or another. I finally settled on this flea-market find:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141121_022357_zpsgq5t4cov.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_022357_zpsgq5t4cov.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141121_022357_zpsgq5t4cov.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Was it a nice touch, or "too much"? And when did I get those weird "freckles"?<br />
<br />
I was an amateur and professional radio DJ and producer for the bulk of the Nineties. When my Bestie and I went to karaoke night later that evening... I had a bug in the back of my brain: I wanted to sing a certain song that had me dancing around the On-Air studio in my oversized college sweatshirt and sweats during my late-night shifts. Every. Time.<br />
<br />
I was unbelievably impressed that the DJ at this hotel bar in Boonieland actually had this for karaoke-- I rocked the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks out of it:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/bpz2AWu4PZg" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
I was in my twenties in my (pathetically-paid but freaking awesome) first career path once more. Flailing around the studio. In my head. Then I went to the ladies' room:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141120_230756_zpsnpc07aqx.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141120_230756_zpsnpc07aqx.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141120_230756_zpsnpc07aqx.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Wow, I look much worse today than I thought I did. Talk about having one's illusions shattered! Ok, scrunched with product and air-dried isn't the way to style this cut. It's winter... I should be blow-drying anyway.<br />
<br />
Hubby said something about not liking these jeans a couple of weeks ago. And he doesn't like a close-fitting jeans style anyway, at least not on me. But I've lost a few pounds over the last couple weeks. They should be fine... or not:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141120_230531_zpsdrklnnwa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141120_230531_zpsdrklnnwa.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141120_230531_zpsdrklnnwa.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Yikes! No wonder Hubby prefers trouser-cut jeans on me! I hate it when we disagree-- and he's right. Argh!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141120_232144_zps7x2mqywr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141120_232144_zps7x2mqywr.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141120_232144_zps7x2mqywr.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
For $70 jeans with "Tighter Tummy Technology", these seem to be wanting. Or are they actually doing a magnificent job? I may need to put them away for a few pounds... but I'm going to try something first. Tune in next episode!<br />
<br />
I wore sneakers throughout the day and night because I knew I would be walking quite a bit in the store. And because I am wearing compression socks, which did not fit into the brown loafer-type shoes I intended for the outfit. Such glamour:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141121_022434_zpspvjrk3lg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_022434_zpspvjrk3lg.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141121_022434_zpspvjrk3lg.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
But they were heavenly for all the walking. The socks kept my cankles from swelling to the size of Alaska. But my toes felt like they were there! Compression garments are a new thing for me, and I'm still experimenting. Apparently, they do not hold body heat at all.<br />
<br />
I bought a couple pair of open-toe ones to try out, and so far I love them. These white ones are the full-foot type that my Mother-In-Law ordered, then discovered were too small, then gave to me. Yay! The foot part in the white ones is actually a bit big, I could probably wear cotton footies underneath next time I wear these sneakers.<br />
<br />
My Bestie thawed out my frozen metatarsals by nailing all of her karaoke songs:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/PSX_20141121_000037_zpsd4uggbke.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo PSX_20141121_000037_zpsd4uggbke.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/PSX_20141121_000037_zpsd4uggbke.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
She has such an awesome voice, and I really love her color combination from last night. We were trying to explain what a "blog" is to her husband last night, but I finally had to show him this little project (aka lawyer doll blog) so he would get the gist.<br />

A gorgeous Coach Campbell hobo, with matching wallet. No worries, I'm not on a "spendy bender"... the purchase was ages ago, when I still had money! But I was so "fried", so exhausted and stressed-out, that I never bothered to switch my stuff around. So this beauty slumbered with my wedding dress, sewing machine, and the stuffed animals I keep for child houseguests for a while.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2014-11-17%2018.11.13_zpsg9vy2l4o.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2014-11-17 18.11.13_zpsg9vy2l4o.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2014-11-17%2018.11.13_zpsg9vy2l4o.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
My Kate Spade wallet (gift from Freeda) has definitely seen better days, so it was time for a new one. The Coach wallet I purchased along with the purse is the same color as the new bag, but I didn't find the right image online to steal. The wallet's side pouch is intended for an iPhone, but my Galaxy S4 is a bit of a snug fit. By the time I can extricate my phone, the caller has reached my voicemail! I use it for my hoard of Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons instead. And I keep my scan cards on a keyring attached the the wristlet clip.<br />
<br />
There isn't anything wrong with the bag I've been carrying for years... I'm just weary of yet another form of the "black lump". I've mostly used black leather bags throughout my adult life, and they've been decent and practical. But I'm bored to tears!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/IMG_20101015_125903_edit0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo IMG_20101015_125903_edit0.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/IMG_20101015_125903_edit0.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I am still keeping this, and may switch my things out from time to time. But in keeping with my wardrobe overhaul, I think my lovely B. Makowski "Mom Bag" needs a rest!<br />
<br />
The search was actually for an oxblood color, but I settled on the bordeaux. The color will look great with most of my wardrobe. There is a decent amount of storage space, but that it still looks "neat" without being "over-structured". And it will look great with my new "interview suits"!lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8786449275710909291.post-58588034446632753122014-11-17T06:06:00.000-05:002014-11-17T12:06:07.837-05:00Major Image OverhaulBack to try this blogging thing again... I've really missed the support of my blog-buddies. Hope you all remember me!<br />
<br />
I'm still jobless, but picking up a little work here and there. I feel myself preparing for "something"-- I'm not entirely sure "what" yet-- by editing and revamping my wardrobe. So a lot of changes will be forthcoming!<br />
<br />
Let's be frank... my "career wardrobe" has been pretty "catch-as-catch-can" for years, with pieces thrown together hoping they would be alright. For this I really have two factors to blame: 1. I do not possess the advanced sewing skills (or the will) necessary to sew my own suits; and 2. The utter neglect of the plus-size fashion industry to make affordable separates, in cuts that work for my body type, and that are polished enough for a traditional professional.... The "traditional professions" including <b>law</b>. (I know that medicine and accounting are on the list, but I can't recall- is engineering in that category as well?)<br />
<br />
I recall being utterly dismayed when finding lovely jackets in Lane Bryant during attempts at shopping over the years, only to find that the accompanying pieces were capris. Seriously?! I can't litigate in capris! *curling up into the fetal position* My allergy to all animal-fiber fabrics is another hugely limiting factor.<br />
<br />
But like almost every other woman in the Western hemisphere, I am an electronic hoarder on Pinterest. Recently, two items I pinned separately appeared on my home page together:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-10-21-10-47-21_zpsdxfvwfcm.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Screenshot_2014-10-21-10-47-21_zpsdxfvwfcm.png" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-10-21-10-47-21_zpsdxfvwfcm.png" /></a><br />
<br />
And I can't get them out of my head! Everything matches, and looks deliberate. And so, so, soooo<i> chic</i>! THAT is what I want to look like... at least as well as I can do for my body size and type. And my pocketbook....<br />
<br />
This concept rattled around in my head at the most opportune time for me: Lane Bryant actually has GREAT suit separates and coordinates out this year. *ecstatic dance* And while I'm a bit skint on cash, I do have their charge account. And I absolutely must buy separates rather than actual suits because my top and bottom are NEVER the same size.<br />
<br />
"Doesn't it seem somewhat counter-intuitive to buy clothes and shoes when you are broke?", many may ask. Yes... BUT. But much of my previous "career wear" pieces have become shabby and ill-fitting. And it is <b>crucial</b> to polish my professional image to help my chances at improving my situation.<br />
<br />
Besides, I'm keeping tags and receipts until they are actually worn. And I've already made some returns/repurchases to get a better price, such as when the item goes on sale. Or a better fit, as I've exchanged a couple of the jackets for a size smaller than initially purchased.<br />
<br />
So I present some of my purchases, with the photos taken directly from the Lane Bryant website (with my edits, of course). And I did not buy the shirts shown-- I have a metric ton of shirts, thanks to Freeda's purge pile and my own thrifting and hoarding instincts!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-54_zpsh1onq6y0.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-54_zpsh1onq6y0.png" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-54_zpsh1onq6y0.png" /></a><br />
<br />
The back hem of the jacket hits me in the perfect spot- before it could strain across the hips! No wonder some the of ladies reviewing this on the website complained that it was too short; it's perfect for short-waisted, big-bootied <i>moi</i>!<br />
<br />
I am not posting a photo of the trousers because it doesn't come across well, but the pinstripes match the pink and white in the jacket. I wish there were a matching pinstripe jacket, but alas... no.<br />
<br />
But I found the same jacket, in suit separates! No ponte knit panels, and the exact same fit as the tweed jacket... I'm in chubby/curvy lawyer clothing heaven:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/2014-11-15%2010.25.57_zpsk47fv77s.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 2014-11-15 10.25.57_zpsk47fv77s.jpg" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/2014-11-15%2010.25.57_zpsk47fv77s.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
They also had these jackets and trousers in a lovely burgundy color... but the trousers are the wrong cut for my shape. They didn't make them in the cut that works for me. <i>C'est la vie</i>.<br />
<br />
Another jacket that I could not resist:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/lawyerdoll/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-00_zpsxxnfcdv1.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-00_zpsxxnfcdv1.png" border="0" src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd454/lawyerdoll/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-11-15-09-47-00_zpsxxnfcdv1.png" /></a><br />
<br />
I love the contrast of the "rebellious" motorcycle jacket design with the traditional houndstooth pattern. And the fabric is so easy to move in! It's perfect for a long day working in the office.<br />
<br />
I'm still debating a few clothing purchases/orders... as to whether they will be returned. That discussion (with photos, of course) will be in a future post.<br />
<br />
I've also purchased some shoes (TG for my Bon Ton charge account), and done a major review and editing of the contents of my closet. Although there will be further refinements as I figure out how to get the best use out of what I have.lawyerdollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16499257623425215954noreply@blogger.com8
