DJ/Radio Producer-turned-Lawyer attempts to dress like a grown-up. Sometimes I comically fail. And I occasionally post fun stuff, like music videos, book-club reviews, or photos of beauty or oddity.
FYI: I was doing this entire blog from my Android phone, snatching moments out of my busy life for quick photos. But I hate auto-correct with a purple passion, so now I'm using the computer for most of the work. I am still using my phone for the photos, though. My photo sizes may be erratic, and the quality isn't stellar. I am not a professional blogger, and do not have time for lots of scenic poses with a great camera. I don't even own a great camera! However, I DO appreciate your continued feedback, even in the absence of photographic artistry.

Neutrals Week: in the Navy!

Surprisingly, navy seems to have been my biggest "Neutrals Week" challenge. Unfortunately, the blouse is way too small to wear without the sweater to cover it up, and the only sweater I have that goes is a light blue one:

Why didn't Hubby tell me the sweater was bunched up before he took the pic!? *sigh* this outfit is prettier than the photo shows:

I had one court appearance, and no really good jacket for this outfit. So the effect was spoiled:

This jacket and these pants do not match- ugh! I ditched the jacket as soon as I was done in court this morning:

Oh how I love this pendant, but I think I prefer my dark red garnet bead necklace with this outfit. I picked this pendant because it's a purpley/navy color:

I feel more comfortable with these big shiny earrings since my hair went curly, and covers them somewhat:

I just thought the outfit needed something with more of a pop than navy shoes, though:

Neutrals Week: Cognac Conundrum

The day in the Neutrals Week challenge I was most worried about: cognac:

I couldn't quite remember what the color is supposed to be. Turns out, neither does Google Images- apparently there is more than one color called "cognac".

Exhibit "A":

Exhibit "B":

One of my friends just converted my broken bracelet into a pendant for me. I'm delighted, because it's pertified wood, which has held fascination for me ever since I first heard about it in middle school. My teacher had a chunk he showed the class. So when I was on a road trip out west over ten years later, the Petrified Forest was higher in priority for me than the Grand Canyon!

The fun part is that both "cognacs" are in this stone:

The challenge was for cognac or white… so I thought it would be fun to try both:

The only item (other than the pendant) I have with those cognac colors is a sleeveless and sheer top, and it's freezing here in NY, so I had to add a layer for self-preservation:

I figured the yellowed face of this cute seed-pearl pin might qualify as "cognac-ish":

I don't have cognac pants or shoes, so brown will have to do:

All in all, not my best outfit, but it was fun trying to meet the challenge! And this post should double up for my "Thursdays are for Thrifters" post.

Neutrals Week: Wednesday Brown

OK… this one I can (and practically did) do with my eyes closed:

I'm participating in a "Neutrals Week" challenge, but I've given up on grabbing Megan Mae's badge, here's the link.

Obviously, this pic wasn't taken today:

This photo of the earrrings doesn't do justice to how pretty and shiny they are:

I'm wondering if the shoes are too "chocolate" in tone to go with the pants:

Could it have been more original? I've worn this exact outfit a zillion times (except the shoes - they are pretty new). But I overslept, and none of this stuff needed ironing! I have to save the real effort for the cognac/white challenge tomorrow. That looks like a true challenge!

Neutrals Week: Grey Tuesday

Minor hitch: I have no grey pants:

I'm participating in a "Neutrals Week" challenge, but since I'm still having a devil of a time grabbing Megan Mae's badge, here's the link.

Not only do I have no grey pants (that fit), but my lovely silver-grey pumps (that I bought to match a suit that doesn't fit) are buried somewhere in the basement. So black shoes today.

I suppose today's challenge will meet with more limited success… but do I get some make-up points for hematite jewelry?:

Neutrals Week: Black Monday

I'm participating in a "Neutrals Week" challenge, but since I'm having a devil of a time grabbing Megan Mae's badge, here's the link.

Today was easy-peasy… Black:

The wires on these earring are tarnished, and could use replacing. But the earrings themselves were so cheap… is it even worth bothering with?:

But I love any excuse to wear my Rosetta Stone scarf:

Tuesday and Thursday look like the big challenges. I will definitely need to preplan those outfits!

The best thrift in life is FREEEEE!

I am definitely putting today's outfit on "Thursdays are for Thrifters" at Spunky Chateau… I didn't pay a red cent for anything from the waist up (except the jacket)!

I'm feeling so good with this outfit, I may repost it into next week's "Visible Monday" as well.

Squeaky's gorgeous earrings from India (I'm going to return them, I swear!):

I'm loving the pink, white, and green combo:

I paired it up with this scarf one of the secretaries gave me, that I hadn't found a way to wear until I acquired this pink sweater. I decided to wear it like a blouse under the sweater, tucking the ends into my pants:

I do really love these shoes:

Pants: Lane Bryant (clearance $10)

I should be home

Wasn't feeling well at all Wednesday, and had a couple of cases that were more challenging than they should have been... ugh. I wound up going home early. After calling in sick on Tuesday (so no Tuesday post). This awful pic was taken late, after a nap:

Hubby graciously pointed out that the placement of the scarf gives me a double chin… and suggested this wasn't a good look for me "right now". My response? "Since this is what I look like now, I guess (the scarf) just isn't a good look, period." He is right… I only put it on because my neck was chilly, and I didn't have time to change into a different top before I left for work.

I did pull out a cute pin from the bagful of goodies I was gifted last weekend. It's seed pearls, and is pretty old… you can tell from the yellowing of the face:

Brown earrings because I decided to keep the color focus on the jacket:

OK... my Photobucket kept closing out before I could find the pic. Oh well.
