This is my blog. And this is me, or *was* me, in college. (But I still look like this in my head.) Combat boots, nose piercing, and a position DJing at the college radio station. I later worked in professional radio. I miss it so! Of course, like most girls, I wasted that time when I was young, pretty, and fairly thin, thinking that I was anything but.
These days my lifestyle and body have both changed significantly. I'm married, with a stepson (AKA Stinky), and work as an attorney in upstate New York. The wardrobe of your typical civil servant here is enough to bore you to death. Literally. This blog will document my attempts to decorate myself in ways that are loyal both to my sense of self and to my occupation.
However, like most people, I'm working around some "stuff". Everybody's got stuff, right? Well, I've got a lot of stuff. Stacey and Clinton (of What Not To Wear fame) have NOT done this episode! This is what I'm working with...
I've always been curvy, but haven't quite come to terms with being "big".
I've had a series of ankle, knee, and back injuries that force me to wear sensible shoes on my small, blocky feet.
I have a short torso, short waist, and over-average length legs.
That waist is higher in the back than in the front, at least partially due to my large round butt!
My legs are a trainwreck. Wide hips, large thighs, saddlebags, fat knees, cankles.
And just for fun, I'm ALLERGIC to all animal fibers... wool, cashmere, etc.
I spend a LOT on tailoring. Thankfully my seamstress is a genius. I also have a lifetime's stash of beautiful things, both gifted and collected during my own travels domestically and abroad.
So, with a deep breath, here we go!
DJ/Radio Producer-turned-Lawyer attempts to dress like a grown-up. Sometimes I comically fail. And I occasionally post fun stuff, like music videos, book-club reviews, or photos of beauty or oddity.
