DJ/Radio Producer-turned-Lawyer attempts to dress like a grown-up. Sometimes I comically fail. And I occasionally post fun stuff, like music videos, book-club reviews, or photos of beauty or oddity.
FYI: I was doing this entire blog from my Android phone, snatching moments out of my busy life for quick photos. But I hate auto-correct with a purple passion, so now I'm using the computer for most of the work. I am still using my phone for the photos, though. My photo sizes may be erratic, and the quality isn't stellar. I am not a professional blogger, and do not have time for lots of scenic poses with a great camera. I don't even own a great camera! However, I DO appreciate your continued feedback, even in the absence of photographic artistry.

Balancing Precariously in Decay

My jacket is getting fuzzballs on it... not quite pills, but their cousin. I really need to take some time and a pair of nail scissors to it to smarten it up again. I'm trying to decide if it is good with this top, or if I should just stick with the pink/purple jacket when wearing this top. Your thoughts?

I love this top-- it's so floaty and fanciful. I don't want to clutter up this post with too much, but the link above shows the top better, also. But the front detail weigh the neckline go waaay down, which isn't such a good thing for work. My solution:

I think I'm going to redo these earrings... and a bunch of my other ones. I will get into that plan in a later post, I suppose.

My plain brown pants are getting a bit run-down... the butt-flaps tend to stick out, and previous effort to tack them down have met with failure. The outer seam on one leg has an inch-long split that I need to fix, and one of the butt-flap buttons has made off for parts unknown. I didn't take a photo of how it is today, but here's an old one of said butt-flaps:

I found a small hole in the lining of my right shoe, where my pinky toe hits. I need to get that looked at soon, before I wear a hole in the suede in that spot. I really like these, but the suede is so soft that I worry:

Time to take them to the cobbler....

I drive by this place almost every day, on my way to my office.  Look carefully on the upper right of the photo:

Every day that I drive by, I wonder why it has not fallen into the lake!

Made it to ballet class at the Y tonight... balancing precariously doesn't even begin to describe my abilities in that class. I look like a retarded epileptic elephant on a bender! But I still like it, even if I have to sit out the jumping parts.

  1. I think the jacket reads more beige and the blouse reads more white.

Also, I think you need to get your hair more brown than black. The black is a little harsh (aging?).

Call me about Thanksgiving. Am trying to decide where to be.

    1. I think you're right about the jacket v/ blouse colors… won't do that again!

I'm getting a lot of in-person compliments on the hair, so I will just see if it mellows out a little in a month… that's what happened last time I went really dark.

I will see if M-I-L is having it at her place… I'm sure she would LOVE to see you!

  2. i have this overwhelming need to take you shopping.

I've never met a curvy woman who looks good in pants with those flaps on the back pockets. They always stick out. I've gone so far as to cut them off!

    1. I know that feeling! I should have done it when I first got them, but I forgot and now it's too late. :( It's such a cruel design feature…

I admit, I keep putting off pants shopping b/c I have enough in my size to get me by at work, and I keep hoping to shop when I shrink. Then I. Lose some weight, but regain some of it and wind up still in the same danged size! Argh!

  3. Love the blouse, don't like the jacket much. It seems like there is too much of a contrast between the pants and the jacket, even to the point of the jacket looking summery and the pants looking like fall. With all that going on, the blouse fades into the background when it should be the focal point. I think it would look great with coordinates like the Wearever pieces from JJill - simple, flowy and without flaps. The fabric might not be right for fall and winter in New York, though.

  4. My big issue is that, as an attorney, I must wear jackets to court. And suits with proper matching pieces don't fit, due to my figure issues… so I'm stuck making do with separate pieces.

    1. Lawyerdoll, I've been there, too, although it's been a few years since I practiced in the courtroom. I was wearing size 22 or 24 petite then so it was a huge challenge to find something professional-looking that fit and was reasonably comfortable. A knit jacket and pants in the same color or in coordinating colors, or a purplish tweed or boucle jacket and grey or black pants would look wonderful with this blouse.

  5. I like the blazer and top together. You did make me laugh as you cataloged everything that needs to be fixed. I hate it when fave clothes get ruined or simply wear out. It's time for you to go thrifting, Missy, and replace those pants!
