DJ/Radio Producer-turned-Lawyer attempts to dress like a grown-up. Sometimes I comically fail. And I occasionally post fun stuff, like music videos, book-club reviews, or photos of beauty or oddity.
FYI: I was doing this entire blog from my Android phone, snatching moments out of my busy life for quick photos. But I hate auto-correct with a purple passion, so now I'm using the computer for most of the work. I am still using my phone for the photos, though. My photo sizes may be erratic, and the quality isn't stellar. I am not a professional blogger, and do not have time for lots of scenic poses with a great camera. I don't even own a great camera! However, I DO appreciate your continued feedback, even in the absence of photographic artistry.

More new shoes and borrowed finery

Tuesday's outfit:

Hubby walked behind me at just the right time... his blue shirt is a bonus:

Said "borrowed finery" from India, of course:

I love them. They need to live at my house. But I will be good, and return them to their rightful owner. Soon. Ish.

I was hoping the beige threads in the jacket would "read" white to better go with my top. I suppose I was mistaken:

The idea was to contrast the ethnic jewelry with the preppy plaid and funky shoes... a genre-mix, as it were. Did I pull it off?

I bought these after my first foot surgery in February as a celebration, even though I knew I couldn't actually wear them until fall:

The choice was inspired by Sheila's many funky shoes, especially her extensive Fluevog collection. Mine are Bass, but I thought they were a bit more fun than the usual selection at the outlet store near me. So I snapped them up, even having no immediate use for them... contrary to the advice given on every fashion and home show ever. The advice gods must be spinning in their collective graves!

Normal shoes!

This is a week of big excitement for me... no more Crocs to work, and no more of the Bass "fuglys" I've been wearing almost nonstop for well over a year! Sunday night I reorganized my shoe closet, putting the fuglys all the way to the back. Last night I organized my sock drawer, putting knee-his and trouser sox into ziplocs by color.

So Monday was 1 of real shoes (excepting my Ariats, which I broke out last week):

I asked Hubby to get me from head to toe... but you can't really see my cute new shoes:

I still appear to have the problem of my feet looking disproportionately small next to my big legs and hips. Other than wear unprofessionally chunky shoes... maybe clown shoes... I think I'm just going to have to ignore it. Or lose a million pounds!

Until then, I adapt. Including tucking in my snakeskin-print top because it's a bit snug, and would otherwise ride up. It borderline fits... if I put on any more weight, it would be too tight:

I love the print and the flutter-sleeves. I'm deciding if I like this necklace with it:

Perhaps better with the jacket than without?

I didn't wear earrings because I couldnt find any that go with it. My hair most covers my ears now, anyway....

Chinese Auction

A couple weeks ago, there was a Chinese auction at the county building. I made out like a bandit! I won a cute little lamp, a simple wooden jewelry box I'm planning on using for Hubby's stuff, and this:

Hmmm... the necklace I won is getting a little lost in this pic. I'll try again:

It's still not showing as much of the detail as I would like... one more go:

That's as good as its going to get, I suppose. It's shineee! I wish it were a smidge shorter, but I might change the clasp to shorten it a mite. I'm liking the echo of the squiggly lines in the necklace with those in the shirt.

This type of glass pendant is really popular in this area... everyone and her sister has one. Now I finally fit in! Is that a good or bad thing?

Tossed on my reliable glass earrings to finish off the look. But with this new haircut, my daangly earrings don't show up very well anymore. Hmmmmm....

Exposed to the elements

This whole week has been nasty, rainy, and chilly... ugh! but at least I got to break out my beautiful blue top:

I spotted a teal-ish color within the pendant, so figured the this jacket would go with it and keep me cosy warm:

I feel a bit exposed in the top, like it goes too low. When I got dressed, it seemed to pass, but as the day wore on I just got more self-conscious. I don't want to sew it up, because it would cover the necklace and I love the combination of this top with it. I decided to experiment with another layer underneath:

I love how the necklace seems to sit a little higher... but the black is boring. I'm going to look for some gorgeous color to put in that space instead!

Broke these out for the first time in ages:

Borrowed finery

While at my friend's house one day, we decided to play in her jewelry box for a bit. She's Indian, and has all sorts of really splashy goodies I'm too chicken to buy for myself. So I borrowed a few goodies to play around with. Monday I came up with this outfit:

To go with this insane necklace:

I got several compliments on the necklace, and felt compelled toward honesty... it's not mine. I could not imagine myself buying something like this before... but now I will keep an open mind. It's part of my style evolution, I suppose. As in... perhaps I will develop some! ;p

RE: the self-portrait... I was super-busy all day, and Hubby had play rehearsal in the evening. So I had to get my blog shot in the ladies' room at the pub. Best I could do.

Edited to add: Whoopsie! Forgot to post my shoes... I've been wearing Crocs all summer, so I got out of the habit:

Pants (not shown- navy): Lane Bryant
Shoes: Ariat
Necklace: borrowed
Earrings: none... I didn't have anything that goes with this necklace

Trying your suggestions

I got a suggestion from a fellow blogger to tuck in this top:

Once I tucked it in this morning, I really felt the need for a belt. Thre is the only one I thought might work:

I'm not sure how I feel about this look... it seems to over-emphasize my too-round hips. And the pant fabric showing through the giant circle kinda bugs me. Hubby says the belt doesn't match.

Just for giggles, I tried the belt over the top:

Yeah, this looks stupid. So tuck, or wear untucked like last Friday? With or without the band at the bottom?

The vultures are circling

Vulture that I am, Thursday I swooped onto the carcass of a "Main Street"-type shoe store's going-out-of-business sale. It's one of those shops that sells a lot of "old lady" shoes, but I managed to pick some nice chunks of meat from that carcass!

I'm looking forward to wearing these brown suede shoes... they felt lovely when I tried them on. And I fell in love with these red pumps:

The color really made these a must-own item... I saw the same style in black, and they weren't nearly so cute. Aan at 75% off, I paid less for the two pair than the original price for one!

As of today, I no longer have a handicapped parking tag for my car. Meaning I have to compete for parking with the rest of the wild kingdom. At least I graduated from the University of Competitive Parking.

The good news is that my feet are definitely getting better, so you will be able to see my largeish shoe collection soon! Eeek-excited!

I wore this:

Along with my beige jacket for court. I would have had a pic with the jacket, but I was exhausted from my day out in the wild and the jacket was all the way out in the car.
